Downtown visits rebound as annual decline deepens; malls remain resilient

March marked an inflection point for pedestrian traffic in U.S. downtowns. While activity rebounded strongly month-over-month, it also delivered two less positive indicators: the first annual decline since the pandemic recovery began in 2021 and the 11th consecutive month of year-over-year decline in downtown visits.
