Established in 1996, AirBoss is one of North America’s largest custom rubber mixers. The company develops, manufactures and sells quality rubber compounds. In addition, AirBoss engineers and moulds rubber products for the transportation, defense and industrial markets, as well as proprietary designs for its personal protective wear. The organization employs 650 staff members spread across three office locations and three manufacturing facilities.
Up until now, Graham Poll, Corporate Controller at AirBoss, has been running the company’s depreciation schedule using Excel™ spreadsheets. He found this to be an inefficient method after realizing that many of the assets were being over depreciated. Graham depreciates his fixed assets by number of pounds produced, so when he set out to find a system, one of his major requirements was that he must have the ability to calculate depreciation based upon multiple units of production (MUOP). He researched many systems and found that very few could accommodate this method of depreciation. “Asset4000 fitted my MUOP requirements perfectly where none of the other systems proved to be able to do so,” said Graham. “My sales contact was excellent. We sat through several web demos and he really did a great job of walking us through the product. I have to say, he had a definite impact on our decision,” he explained.
Graham is eager to be able to accurately track and depreciate his fixed assets. “The system will allow me to hold scanned images of each item which will be very useful,” he continued. “I also plan on taking advantage of all of the reports, both standard and customized.” The overall package, presentation and price were all contributing factors in Graham’s final decision. Users will be trained on Asset4000 following implementation at AirBoss in July.
