The MRI Market Insights report reveals what renters want: luxury amenities, green practices, digital communications – and eventually, homeownership.

To gain insights into rental housing trends and preferences, MRI Software commissioned a survey of more than 2,000 renters in the U.S. across a mix of rental types and community locations.

The results provide insight for landlords and property managers across four areas:

• Housing preferences – Most residents will seek their next home in a location similar to their current environment. The dream of homeownership also remains strong.
• Amenities – Renters appreciate in-unit amenities that improve convenience and privacy.
• Green practices – The importance of green practices is growing, with roughly two-thirds of respondents citing its importance.
• Digital communications – The majority of renters prefer digital interactions with landlords and property managers for both communications and monthly rent payment.
