MRI Provides Opportunities for Students

There are many reasons why students are encouraged to intern during college. Internships are a great way to try out a job for a set period of time, which is advantageous for students who are deciding on what kind of work they might like to do. Internships can also

help students gain valuable experience in the workforce—something that future employers are almost certain to look for.

MRI Software kicked off its summer internship program in June, with students interning in almost every department.

“Even though I studied it in school, I still wasn’t quite sure if accounting was going to be a great fit for me,” remarked Brennan Karaba, who is interning in the Finance department. “This internship has really helped to confirm my choice.”

But interns at MRI have gained more than just valuable work experience.

“I’ve made a lot of friends,” said Product Development intern Jeff Wolf. “A lot of the guys from PD hang out after work. We get a lot of work done, but the atmosphere is really laid back.”

When asked if they would come back to work full-time at MRI, an overwhelming amount of the interns said “yes.”

Emily Mracek

This is a pretty common answer. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ (NACE) 2009 Experiential Education Survey, 83.6 percent of interns who were offered full-time positions accepted.

“If MRI offered me a job after college, I would definitely take it,” said Emily Mracek, who is interning in the Sales department. “It’s just such an inviting workplace.”

Are You Ready For New Orleans?

Tomorrow the first wave of MRI staff is leaving for New Orleans to ready the hotel for the IUC! Since the conference is just a few short days away, you are probably packing your bags and gearing up for Bourbon Street. To make your traveling eXperience as smooth as possible, keep the following travel tips (which we’re using for our trip too!) in mind: med_new-orleans-photo-by-richard-nowitz-4-

1) Be familiar with TSA regulations – Although some of the prohibited items are pretty common sense when it comes to carry on luggage (sorry, no axes or cattle prods!), you should read the rest of the regulations to ensure you get through the checkpoint as quickly as possible. Liquids, for example, must be less than 3.4 ounces if you’re not checking a bag and all your liquids must fit in a sealed one gallon plastic bag. If you have a last minute question, TSA has a mobile app  for your reference.

2) Roll your clothes – Folding your shirts and pants can leave a crease mark, plus it takes up more space in the suitcase. You can fit a few extra items in your bag, and possibly even take it with you as carry-on avoiding the dreaded checked baggage fees. If you haven’t heard of this packing technique before, there are several tutorials online.

3) Call your bank and credit card company – If you don’t travel frequently, your cards could be flagged for suspicious use. Simply giving your bank or credit card vendor a call to let them know when you’re out of town, and where you will be, can prevent unwanted and unnecessary travel troubles.Especially for our international travelers!

4) Snap a picture – Once you arrive at the airport, take a picture or make a note in your phone of your car’s location. When you arrive back home, you’ll be tired and ready to get home as soon as possible, but may not remember the section you parked in. Making a quick note at the beginning of a trip will help the conclusion go smoothly.

5) Get to know Louis Armstrong International Airport- take five minutes to look over the airport maps, hotel shuttle info and rental car counter details. If you think navigating your home airport is relentlessly confusing, it will be even worse at an unfamiliar airport. Flight status updates often include the anticipated arrival gate, so checking the maps at your destination airport can help you get through the baggage pickup, find the rental car counters or shuttle pickup locations, and get to the hotel as soon as possible.

We can’t wait to spend the 2014 International Users Conference with our valued clients. See you in New Orleans!

Are You Ready for MAX?

Things have been busy at MRI Software lately! The 2014 International Users Conference is a few short weeks away, where we will debut the newest version of our innovate software. To hold you over until then, however, we are happy to announce the release of a brand new solution for clients, the MRI Application eXchange, known as (MAX). MAX enables users from across the MRI community to connect and share customized reports, pages, views, and even complete applications within their MRI software suite.MRI Application eXchange

MAX is more than a place to simply download and upload apps, though – after clients download an app, they can rate it and leave feedback for others. MAX is designed so that our users can contribute their own apps for other users to see and use with their MRI installation, but also receive input on its ease-of-use and functionality . This offering is the first of its kind within the property management software industry and encourages clients to build a rapport with peers while taking advantage of user-generated applications within the MRI environment.

MAX is available exclusively to MRI Software clients, and will be one of the the many offerings featured at the 2014 International Users Conference next month in New Orleans. To learn more about MRI’s MAX initiative and watch a demo video, visit our website.
