Take Charge 2024

For 2024, we sought a motto that would encapsulate our successes and our drive to achieve and excel. “Take Charge” became our slogan for the year, symbolizing the lion, the king of the jungle, as we took charge of our goals and mission to create our ideal utopia, Sunshine Falls. This is a place where we come together to transform the way communities live, work, and play through the industry’s most comprehensive, flexible, open and connected technology platform.

With this goal in mind, and this powerful image as our source of motivation, the Talent Management team truly took charge and had an outstanding year. Read on to discover the remarkable achievements this team accomplished in 2024.

Training/Education Services

It’s challenging to deliver an environment where students and staff can live, learn, and thrive. From FM to asset managers and from FDs to real estate, project, and fixed asset accountants, there are a lot of people involved. As a result, there are vast amounts of data to review and analyze to deliver cost-efficient, consistent, and compliant service. When it’s impossible to work as a single team across many disparate and disconnected technology platforms, you’re not just wasting time and money. You’re also missing opportunities to improve the lives of students and staff – both now and in the future. MRI Software invests in the education not only of our Pride Members, but as well as our Partners & Clients.

Global Internships/Apprenticeships

North America Internship Program

The Solon, Ohio headquarters office and the Atlanta, Georgia office host interns every summer. MRI Software offers a wide range of internship opportunities across various departments, including but not limited to Product Development, Product Management, IT, Sales, Managed Services, Marketing, Education Services, and Human Resources. Our interns receive hands-on experience and work directly with our Pride Members to learn about our clients, products, and processes. Additionally, there are various leadership development sessions hosted by our Executive Leadership Team throughout the summer, along with intern activities and after-work outings.

The 2024 intern cohort responded to a survey after completing their internship. Of the 30 interns, 94% rated the program favorably and enjoyed their experience. Additionally, almost 50% of the interns were hired into full-time roles immediately after the conclusion of the internship.

Patrick Ghilani, MRI’s CEO has high expectations for each intern cohort. Along with performing in their day-to-day duties and learning about their desired career paths, Pat challenged the interns to raise $10,000 in just under 3 months for the MRI Software Foundation. The interns had full control of how the funds were raised and which charity they donated to. By the end of the summer, they raised over $12,000.

For the second year in a row, MRI also awarded an intern with a scholarship, worth half of what was raised through their fundraiser. The 2024 Intern Scholarship winner not only excelled in their work but was also a vital member of the intern fundraiser. Congratulations to Ashley Watts! We wish you luck with your future endeavors.

North America Internship Spotlight

Henry Pérez De Jesús – Financial Analyst in Cleveland, Ohio

“I believe I am in the role I am today because I was open to trying new opportunities, which helped build my confidence in networking and social skills.”

As a master’s student at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, Henry sought to broaden his skills and knowledge in business analytics to compliment his background in chemical engineering and political science. When some of his friends from CWRU accepted internship offers from MRI, Henry decided to apply for the Corporate Business Analyst intern role. He secured the position and a spot in the 2024 MRI Intern Cohort by showcasing his diverse skill set, particularly his public speaking and presentation abilities.

During the internship, Henry had the opportunity to learn about business operations by observing C-suite executives and understanding their roles. Mentored by Susan Avelluto, MRI’s Chief People Officer, he collaborated with Susan and other executive members to prepare and analyze data for the team. He used Power BI, a new tool for him, which helped enhance his technical skills. When asked about his favorite part of the internship, Henry said “Befriending other interns across departments was awesome. Carpooling together is one of my favorite memories. I still talk to many of the interns to this day.”

As the internship concluded, Henry expressed his desire to stay with MRI if a job opportunity was available. After explaining that he wanted a role involving decision-making and collaboration with peers, he was offered a Financial Analyst position upon graduation. In his current role, Henry works in FP&A, where he is learning to manage actuals, budgeting, and forecasting for North American products, assessing their financial health and performance.

A Puerto Rico native, Henry is proud of where he is today and attributes a lot of his success to being open to new opportunities. “Saying yes to an opportunity that you may not be as familiar with can help build confidence. I moved to Ohio from Puerto Rico for the opportunity to grow personally and professionally and I am grateful to MRI for helping me in my journey.”

EMEA Apprenticeship Program

The Apprenticeship and Internship Program is a great opportunity for young professionals in the UK. Apprentices combine on-the-job training with classroom learning to gain specific skills in line with a particular job. Upon completion of the program, the apprentices gain a national recognized qualification. Apprenticeships can range from 18 months to 4 years and can be placed in various skilled areas including IT, Product Development, Customer Service, Marketing, and Human Resources. An apprentice is eligible for hire in a permanent role upon completion of the program, which is subject to individual and company performance.

As for the interns, they also receive on-the-job training, however, the length of the program is one year long. Interns are current university students who are participating in their ‘year in the industry’ placements. Additionally, internship opportunities are primarily offered in Product Development and Marketing.

APAC Internship Program

Our team in India offers an exceptional internship program for young professionals eager to jumpstart their careers. Interns participate in six months of training on real-time projects and are paired with mentors who provide guidance and support throughout the internship. In addition to technical courses, mentors guide interns on necessary technologies, such as Power BI, to ensure alignment with live projects.

Specialty areas for interns include Application Development and Quality Assurance. After the six-month internship, interns are considered for full-time positions, as they are hired with the intent to transition to permanent roles. This approach ensures that the internship is mutually beneficial for both the interns and the organization.

ROAR & MRI Software Foundation

The MRI Software Foundation’s mission is to strengthen underserved communities by advancing education and housing. Since its inception, the MRI Software Foundation has allocated over $480,000 in four continents, driven by Pride Member requests, to support our mission in various areas including literacy, science and technology, homelessness, food banks and meal services, and disaster relief. The MRI Software Foundation was registered as a 501(c)(3) private foundation in 2021. Additionally, MRI Software Australia Public Ancillary Fund was established in October 2021, and the MRI Software Foundation UK was established in January 2022.

In 2024, the MRI Software Foundation raised $62,842 USD. Beneficiaries include Coding Black Females, NEOCH, Shoes4Everyone, Boys and Girls Club of Northeast Ohio, and Bernies Book Bank. We would like to give a huge thank you to all Pride Members who donated to the MRI Software Foundation or participated in a ROAR event this year. The contributions you have made will have a lasting impact on the communities in which we live, work, and play.

Pride Member Benefits & Time-Off

Flex at MRI

MRI Software’s success is deeply rooted in the connections we build and the shared experiences that shape our journey. This connection extends beyond the Pride, permeating our relationships with clients, partners, vendors and in our interactions with the broader community. We believe that genuine connections not only lead to superior products and service but also contribute to a world that values empathy, collaboration, and shared success.

Through our culture, we strive to cultivate interactions that are meaningful and enriching, whether it’s a brainstorming session in our office, a virtual coffee chat with a colleague across the globe or a volunteering activity in the community. We champion open communication, active listening, and mutual respect; creating an environment where every voice is valued and every perspective is celebrated. In 2024 we introduced Flex at MRI, a global shift in the way we think about integrating work and our lives. New ways of working have opened up possibilities for flexibility, work-life balance, and access to diverse talent worldwide. Simultaneously, our vibrant office spaces remain a cornerstone of our identity, fostering collaboration, mentorship, and innovation.

A dynamic, flexible work model cultivates opportunities for personal growth, professional development, and lasting connections, while enabling us to tap into the boundless range of perspectives and experiences that each Pride member brings to MRI. Flex at MRI is not just about where you work, but about how we work together to achieve our shared goals. It’s designed to empower you to be at your most productive and fulfilled while nurturing a strong culture that aligns with our core values.
Our guiding principle in developing Flex at MRI has been to maximize collaboration, client centricity and Pride well-being while maintaining a balance of both team and individual flexibility. As we continue our journey together, let’s do so with a shared commitment to fostering connections that elevate our work, our relationships, and our collective impact on the world.

At MRI, we believe that flexibility is the key to a thriving workforce and successful future. The Flex at MRI program includes three different impactful benefits to help our Pride Members maintain a healthy work-life balance;

Flex Workplace (“The Best of Both Worlds”):

MRI’s Flex Workplace Policy provides the best of both worlds, with most Pride members flexing their schedule to spend some time remote and some time in the office each week. This policy aims to provide clear ‘rules of the road’ while maintaining a balance between the needs of our customers, the company and our teams with the diverse needs of each Pride member.

Flex Anywhere Work From (Almost) Anywhere: MRI’s Flex Anywhere Policy allows Pride Members to work from almost anywhere in the world for up to 14 days per year. This policy is typically used in conjunction with other paid time off – allowing Pride Members to extend a personal trip by working in a different location to their usual place of work. So, whether you’re looking to extend an overseas vacation, spend time with family abroad, or experience working in a different city, province, state or country – this benefit could be a great way to Flex at MRI!

Flex Time Off:

Flex Time Off Pride members employed on an ongoing basis have access to a bank of ‘Flex Time Off’ each year. Kickstart your weekend early, late start to attend an event at your child’s school, spend time with your family and friends to observe a religious holiday – it’s your time, your way here at MRI.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging

The Culture

MRI Software is committed to fostering an inclusive work environment where all Pride members feel valued and welcomed. This year, our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team has launched several impactful initiatives globally. Highlights include hosting MRI’s inaugural DEI Summit, conducting DEI sessions at our annual client conference, establishing DEI councils, and finalizing a comprehensive DEI curriculum. The dedication of our team is evident as we continue to make significant strides in promoting inclusivity and thriving throughout 2024.

PRGs

Pride Resource Groups (PRGs) are a cornerstone of MRI’s culture. As members of The Pride, we aim to foster communities where individuals can connect, celebrate their successes, and navigate their challenges, enhancing both their personal and professional lives. Under the leadership of Dean Carpenter, VP of Global Talent Practices, and Amber Soeder, Diversity Programs Analyst, our PRG leadership teams are dedicated to supporting and achieving these goals. Whether you’re looking to become an ally through Women & Allies or focus on your mental well-being with RISE, we offer a welcoming and safe space for everyone. Meet each PRG below and see some of their 2024 initiatives.

Women & Allies

Mission – Women & Allies will empower women Pride members to gain the support, access, knowledge, and tools that they need to succeed and progress in their careers within MRI. Women & Allies will engage Allies in demonstrating active efforts to address gender inequities at work and in society.

2024 – Women & Allies has experienced a highly successful year. Following a much-needed refresh and relaunch of the PRG, the leadership team has made significant progress. The highlight of the year was the Leadership, Engagement, Advancement, and Potential (LEAP) Summit, a global professional development event held in November. This summit featured seminars led by MRI Pride Members on a variety of topics, including Finding Your Purpose, Networking Strategies, and Leading with Emotional Intelligence, among others. These sessions were accessible to all Pride Members worldwide, resulting in a strong turnout and making the summit a resounding success.

We extend our gratitude to all leaders and contributors who dedicated their efforts to create an enriching experience and provide valuable growth opportunities for our fellow Pride Members.

PRISM

Mission – Supporting LGBTQIA+ equity where we live, work, and play through safe, inclusive spaces that deliver an increased sense of belonging.

2024 – The leadership team of the PRISM PRG has demonstrated a commitment to advancing and further developing the PRG. This year, PRISM launched the Mutual Ally Network for Everyone (MANE) initiative, aimed at fostering a more inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ individuals within MRI. Allies who complete an online training course earn their MANE certification and receive a pin to wear at company events, signifying their role as safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ individuals. This certification training equips allies with the skills and knowledge necessary to become empathetic, active listeners, enabling them to provide support in diverse scenarios.

Congratulations to everyone involved in the launch of this program; your efforts are instrumental in making MRI a safe and inclusive workplace.

RISE

Mission – MRI RISE promotes a culture of well-being by educating, supporting, and empowering the Pride to improve our physical, mental, financial, and social well-being in our workplace, and thus with all aspects of our lives.

2024 – Following a successful launch this year, RISE has swiftly begun providing communities and support groups for individuals seeking to enhance their physical, mental, financial, and social well-being. The RISE Kick-Off featured a panel discussion on personal well-being journeys, where panelists shared meaningful conversations, practical tips, and inspiring stories about their experiences with mental, physical, and social well-being.

Since then, RISE has initiated monthly meetings and even hosted a movie night featuring mocktails and snack recipes. With the introduction of social groups catering to various interests such as book clubs, fitness, and video games, RISE is poised for a bright future as we move into 2025.

SOLE

Mission – SOLE’s mission is to provide an “open and connected” space for MRI’s black, and those who identify with elements of the black and African diaspora, along with supportive allies, to identify commonalities, respect differences and move forward united to positively impact where we live, work, and play.

2024 – SOLE was launched this year as space for MRI’s black Pride Members, including those who identify with elements of the black and African dispora, along with allies as well. To celebrate their launch, they hosted a kick-off panel: Walled Off: Women in the Workforce. During this panel, women from around the globe discussed how far women have come in the workplace and the work that still needs to be done. As a new PRG, they have big goals for 2025. We can’t wait to see how much this leadership team will accomplish.

PRG Spotlights

We believe that our PRGs play a crucial role in making MRI a positive and supportive workplace by fostering communities of support and allyship. But don’t just take our word for it – read on to discover the inspiring stories of our three 2024 PRG Spotlight Pride Members. Their journeys and contributions exemplify the spirit of our community and the impact we can achieve together.

North America – PRG Spotlight

Amber Campbell – Support Analyst in Cleveland, Ohio

“When I heard there was a company that allows you to express yourself and cares about your mental well-being, I wanted to learn more.”

After hearing about her friend’s and husbands’ experience while working at MRI, Amber knew she had to apply. “My mental health was declining at my previous workplace; I had to make a change.” When she joined MRI, she was not only excited to express herself with unique hair colors and band tees. She also felt empowered working for a company who prioritized mental health and created communities for support and discussion. Soon after joining MRI, she became a member of a Pride Resource Group (PRG) called PRISM which stands for Pride, Respect, Inclusion, and Support at MRI.

From there, Amber’s passion for mental health has blossomed. She has committed to promoting an inclusive work culture by being an active member in multiple PRGs, checking in on her peers, and even helping her fellow employees begin their own mental health journeys. Amber Soeder, MRI’s Diversity Programs Analyst, was impressed by Campbell’s passion for cultivating change at MRI, so she recommended Amber to become a Co-Chair for a new personal well-being PRG.

Amber hopes to one day work in a full-time DEI position so that she can dedicate her work to helping others and promoting positivity and inclusivity.

“Just live, love people, and be understanding. Everyone is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Have a conversation and check-in with your peers.”

EMEA – PRG Spotlight

Roxanne Cass – Project Manager in Cape Town, South Africa

Roxanne has always had the passion for helping others but didn’t have a professional outlet to explore that. “My previous employers did not have PRGs. I have helped with planning charity events and holiday parties, but there was never a dedicated team.” After starting her career at MRI Software, she was surprised to learn there was a Women and Allies PRG.

Since joining MRI, Roxanne has not only been a member of various PRGs but has also taken on leadership roles. Serving as an EMEA Communications Chair for Women and Allies, Roxanne helped grow the PRG into what is today: a successful and strong network of women to help support each other through personal and professional challenges. Being involved in Women and Allies has helped Roxanne find belonging in various support groups and learn new skills, including a self-defense class.

Currently serving as the South Africa Co-Chair for RISE (Reflect Inward, Shine Everywhere), Roxanne has a new goal. “Financial wellness can be a challenge that many struggle with, and it has become a passion of mine lately as I aim to retire at the age of 50. This goal has made me more aware of the importance of overall wellness, including mental health. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with high functioning anxiety, which has given me a deep understanding of the mental health challenges faced in the workplace. This journey has taught me the importance of looking after my mental health while maintaining high performance in the workplace. I want to share what I have learned with others because neglecting any aspect of wellness—mental, physical, financial, or social—can hinder one’s ability to bring their best self to work.”

Roxanne’s involvement in PRG leadership roles gave her the opportunity of a lifetime. “It was such an amazing opportunity to attend the PRG Leadership Summit in Cleveland, Ohio. It was my first time visiting America.” At the PRG Leadership Summit, Roxanne met with PRG leaders from around the globe to create strategic plans for the future of PRGs in 2025.

“Being a member of a PRG has allowed me to help others, which is my passion. It has also created opportunities for meeting new people, learning new cultures, and creating a strong, professional global network.”

APAC – PRG Spotlight

Mitchell Cross – Training Specialist in Sydney, Australia

“Finding a community within your workplace where you feel safe, supported, and celebrated is incredibly important.”

Throughout his career, Mitchell has been actively involved in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives. “In my previous HR roles, I had the chance to contribute to various DEI efforts, but I never worked for a company with employee resource groups.” When Mitchell joined MRI, he was eager to become a member of the PRISM Pride Resource Group (PRG). Shortly after joining and becoming deeply engaged with the group, he was invited to serve as the APAC Co-Chair for PRISM. “The opportunity to take on the role of APAC Co-Chair was presented to me, and it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

Mitchell attributes much of his success in PRISM to his manager, who supports his involvement and understands the demands of being on an executive team. “I dedicate at least two hours each week to PRISM, typically before or after my regular work hours.”

As a global company, MRI allows Mitchell to network with PRISM members from various regions. “There’s a shared commitment among our team across all locations to support minority groups and make MRI a more welcoming place for everyone. Witnessing the initiatives we’ve accomplished as a community is inspiring and brings me joy at the end of the workday.”

Looking ahead, Mitchell plans to continue in training and development, which he loves, while also maintaining his momentum in PRISM.

“I have a goal for 2026 to have MRI visible at our Pride and Mardi Gras celebrations from an external POV. Accomplishing this would be a significant achievement for PRISM.”

Workplace Experience

At MRI, we take pride in our culture and in providing an inclusive workplace for all Pride Members. Our Global Facilities team works diligently to ensure the well-being of employees, encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual aspects. By offering accommodations for Pride Members, we create a welcoming environment that makes in-office days enjoyable. Since announcing our new three-day in-office policy following the COVID pandemic, the Global Facilities team has increase support to ensure a smooth transition for our Pride Members.

In addition to accommodations, the Global Facilities team collaborates with the Global Marketing team to ensure consistent MRI branding at each office. Whether you visit the South Africa office or the Sydney office, you will experience the same MRI atmosphere. However, to embrace local culture, each office incorporates touches of the local city. For example, the Solon, Ohio headquarters office has meeting rooms named after Cleveland landmarks.

Beyond in-office support and MRI branding, the Global Facilities team also engages with remote Pride Members. During spirit weeks, virtual Pride Members are encouraged to participate in their own ways. From scavenger hunts to competitions to a global cookbook, everyone can join in the spirit events.

Pride Member Well-Being

Accessibility and workplace accommodations are top priorities for the Global Facilities team. Each office is equipped with lactation rooms, prayer rooms, and quiet rooms. Additionally, workspace accommodations are available including standing desks, window desks, ergonomic chairs, a desk in a quieter or darker area. Some of these accommodations can also be made for remote employees.

In-Office Experience

Each office features MRI branding, including blue and green accents, lion symbols, and core values decorating the walls. With an open layout, groups of cubicles are placed around the space to connect departments and promote collaboration and socialization. Our headquarters in Solon, Ohio, is equipped with a cafeteria, gym, walking track, and leisure room with pool tables and video games. Additionally, headquarters has beer kegs that are available during special happy hours and events.

One element that all global offices have in common is the Red Wall. This bright red wall is a central piece in all offices to represent current and previous employees of MRI. Whether you are a Pride Member for one week or 25 years, your signature will be on the wall to show that you were an important part of MRI’s journey. Another unique fun fact about the red walls is that when a Pride Member visits a new office, they can sign that wall as well.

Spirit Weeks

Hosting a global event is no easy task, but our Global Facilities team has nailed it. With each quarterly spirit week, this team goes above and beyond to ensure that every Pride Member in each region has an enjoyable and memorable experience. All regions, and remote employees, are assigned the same spirit days during spirit weeks and are all encouraged to participate in the theme and post it in our numerous Teams channels. Each region is also assigned a separate regional activity, to bring together that community for team building and happy hours. During each spirit week, there is a Global Townhall that is available for all Pride Members to view. During this Townhall event, company updates are shared from the executives and key members from around the business.

Together We Shine

As we reflect on our 2024 accomplishments and how we Took Charge, we are inspired to look toward the future. With that vision in mind, we are proud to announce our theme for 2025: “Together We Shine.” The future at MRI is bright, and we shine when we unite to pursue a common goal. A prime example of this collaboration is our Talent Management team. As highlighted above, their efforts are making a significant impact on our Pride Members. From Flex @ MRI to PRGs to Workplace Experience, we are committed to supporting our Pride Members and will continue to believe, strive, and thrive together in pursuit of an even brighter 2025.
