By using MRI OnLocation’s footfall counting technology (formerly MRI Springboard), Downtown Boston BID are able to leverage up to the minute data and insights on pedestrian traffic within the downtown. This enables the BID to forecast for staffing resources during busy periods, event planning, and also review the initiatives implemented which have been designed to drive activity; a key objective for the Business Improvement District.
Additionally, the data and insights demonstrate the importance of this part of the city and the region as a whole which is key in communicating to stakeholders and advocating future programs.
“The data we receive is legible, accurate and timely, especially now when we’re surrounded by all sorts of data, it is incredibly important for people to lead and to coordinate conversations and to make policy. Good data enables someone to trust that decisions are being made with some thought and some facts and I think that’s a very, very powerful tool.” – Anita Lauricella, Director of Planning & Research.
