Lisa Yu: Expert in International Property Management Software
My name is Lisa Yu and I am one of the new members of the MRI team. Before joining MRI Software, I became an expert in international property management software at CBRE. Starting as an accountant, my 20+ year career at CBRE Hong Kong included, since 2002, a central role in the oversight, training, and implementation of the MRI Software solution suite for CBRE in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and mainland China. As a result, I come to MRI Software with an impressive wealth of MRI product knowledge and regional expertise in international property management software, property management, and accounting. As Associate Director of Finance and Systems Solutions at CBRE since 2007, I worked closely with my colleagues at CBRE, customer companies, and business partners at MRI to consistently discover new and innovative ways to maximize the MRI solution, as well as other complementary systems, to better solve business problems and meet business objectives throughout the CBRE footprint in greater China.
I can remember when I first helped roll out the MRI international property management software system in 2002 to mainland China. Not only were we bringing one of the most sophisticated property management solutions in the world to mainland China, but MRI had also done significant work to make its software ready for the Chinese market. Of course the language and regional settings were included, but the real work came when the application was certified by the Chinese government for use in mainland China, first in 2006 and then again in 2011.
In 2011 MRI’s property management solution suite was re-certified in mainland China. This involved writing a Chinese language user manual, creating 16 custom reports used by the Chinese government for auditing purposes, and translating all of the unique accounting terms in MRI to the appropriate mainland China accounting term. You see, in Hong Kong and Singapore, the discipline of accounting is taught in the English language, so even though we can speak Chinese, the specific accounting term for “Rent Roll” or “Chart of Accounts” in Mandarin Chinese is sometimes not so easily translated and must be verified.
In the short term I will focus on supporting the delivery of Global Professional Services projects in the APAC region. In the years to come, I hope to continue to help customers implement, master, and utilize MRI’s international property management software product suite. I will also provide consulting and regional expertise to our product management team to help ensure our international products continue to set the standard in regionalization and specialized functionality in APAC.
It is an exciting time to be a part of MRI’s expansion in Asia Pacific and I hope I can help our current and future customers get the most out of our powerful international property management solutions. MRI first came to Asia/Pac in the late 1990s and expanded from ANZ and Singapore into today over 150 installations in dozens of cities from Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia to Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong, as well as our robust base in Japan and South Korea. Now, with staff in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Singapore, along with reliable partners in the region, we are well-equipped to continue to grow in this critical market.
I very much look forward to getting to know all the customers and partners in the region better and sharing my expertise with international property management software, in particular MRI’s. As an accountant, I can understand what most of you are going through and I can help you figure out how to use MRI to make your lives easier, get you the information you need, improve your processes, and get the most out of your ongoing MRI investment.
