4 Reasons to Look Forward to this Year!

As we closed the book on 2012, there are many things to look forward to in 2013. Will we finally get a flying car, cell phone service on airplanes, or a better way to squeeze out that last bit of toothpaste from the tube? Here are the top four reasons I am excited about 2013:

  1. 2014-resized-600I’m Over the Fiscal Cliff. Ah, the fiscal cliff. Unless you have been living under a rock or decided to not watch the news the last several months, you are aware that we avoided “going over the fiscal cliff” by Congress passing new legislation. With the passing, the term fiscal cliff should fall off in 2013.
  2. Mayan Calendar Ends. According to the Mayan calendar, the world was supposed to end on December 21, 2012. Like all end of the world predictions, the day came and went and nothing exciting happened. I’m still confused why people like to predict when the apocalypse will happen. If they end up being right, the world is over and they can’t brag that they got it right. When they are wrong, they go into hiding or extend the date out a few more years because of some new information they discovered.
  3. Goodbye Gangnam Style. The song/dance craze/YouTube sensation is being retired according to creator Psy. He is going to work on a follow-up that will surely be a hit (we all know how those sequels work out). So much like the Macarena and Achy Breaky Heart, Gangnam Style should ride off into the sunset and only appear on re-runs of “Where are They Now”.
  4. New Technologies. With the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) starting up next week in Las Vegas, I’m excited about what new technologies will be available in 2013. CES is the one of the largest technology related trade shows in the world that features the latest gadgets and technological advancements from companies like Sony, Samsung, Motorola, LG, and more. New products are announced and unveiled that will help make our everyday lives easier to manage. The trend of making products smaller and thinner has been replaced by making the products more robust and bigger. With the boom of smartphones and SLR digital cameras, bigger seems to be better now. However, much like concepts cars that are shown at auto shows, CES features many technologies that will never make it to the marketplace. But, we can all dream that Mattel will finally come out with aworkingHoverboard as featured in Back to the Future Part 2.

So those are my top 4 reasons why I’m excited about 2013. I’m sure there are others things to be excited about this year (birth of a royal baby or Mariah vs. Nicki on American Idol), so leave a comment and let us know what you are excited about in 2013!
