2020 was a challenging year. Lockdowns. Restrictions. Work disruptions. And economic uncertainty. So, now that the sun has set on 2020, it’s time to look forward to new horizons as we step up to ensure you have the tools and solutions you need to make 2021 a standout year.

New features coming your way

You have asked and, throughout 2021, we are planning on delivering the tools and solutions you need to address these challenges. With new developer resources, partner integrations, and continued innovation here’s some of what you can expect:

Property Tree

The impact of COVID has affected your businesses in different ways from high or low vacancy rates, rent reductions, evolving legislation and so on, driving operational effectiveness and managing risk has never been more important. See below what you can expect in Property Tree this year;

  • Flexible User Security giving the option to create and control up to 285 different permission levels for your team ~ going to general availability soon.
  • Workflows; discovery commencing soon where we will investigate how to create customisable workflows to automate repetitive tasks to save time and redistribute where time is spent.
  • Communication Platform will provide better visibility to communications in a single location including email, SMS and portal posts, so every message is easy to find. This will be a phased approach with phase 1 going to early adopter soon.
  • Later in 2021 we will commence discovery for the Property Connect Owner app, this will provide owners with the ability to view their property maintenance and financial data, all in the palm of their hand.

MRI @Work

Tenant demands are increasing, CBDs around the country should continue to repopulate, and market volatility will remain until a vaccine is widespread. So commercial real estate managers, owners and occupiers need to increase agility and add value – whilst lowering costs! Within the MRI @Work suite these new features are designed to do just that:

  • Integration of MRI Contract Intelligence and MRI Property Management X will enable landlords to harness the power of machine learning and AI to gain insights and remove expensive manual processes.
  • Expanded managed services offering to provide an end-to-end service, from lease administration services and auditing for more efficient ongoing management that could save you millions.
  • Budgeting and forecasting will be enhanced with more tools to visualize data and test scenarios so that more accurate and timely budgets and forecasts can be produced in this volatile market.
  • The acquisition of AMT direct strengthens MRI Software’s lease accounting, administration and facilities management offering for corporate occupiers, with a new complementary product and over 60 staff joining the team.

Strata Master

Strata management is complex at the best of times, let alone during a pandemic. Strata Master can help you go virtual, streamline processes and add value to meet the demands of your owners with these new features:

  • MRI Strata Connect is coming! This new module provides cloud-based maintenance, interactive building profiles, streamlined invoicing, and whole raft of new features that add value and time savings.
  • StrataVote integration will deliver unrivalled meetings and electronic voting functionality to Strata Master users, including the all-important virtual meetings during the age of COVID.
  • Macquarie Bank direct debit integration will deliver intuitive banking functionality that’s simple and easy for strata managers and their customers.

Rest Professional

A trusted and comprehensive property management solution, Rest Professional users will benefit from these new features to service your business and engage your customers:

  • Maintenance Plus is an all on one maintenance workflow solution, providing transparency to all stakeholders. Currently in early adopter phase.
  • New features, such as statistics to add to your management reporting, additional banking files, and new short-term and holiday rental integration will be added in our 2021 releases.

Connecting with clients

Our core philosophy is, people will thrive and succeed when they come together in well-connected communities. That’s why we’ve formed the MRI Living Client Advisory Board, which brings together industry leaders from across Australia and New Zealand.

By drawing on the collective wisdom of the group, we aim to better understand the trends and challenges impacting real estate businesses and explore how we can provide valuable solutions to meet our clients’ needs and expectations.

And, more than simply an opportunity for us to gain valuable insights as part of our Voice of the Customer program, the Client Advisory Board is also an opportunity for these leaders to collaborate, build relationships and network.

The inaugural meeting of the Client Advisory Board was held on Thursday, 4 February 2021.

Strengthening the leadership team

Key to tackling the challenges and opportunities of 2021 is building a high performing client-centric team. We are excited the announce the following appointments to the MRI APAC Leadership team:

Angela Mihalarias joins us as Senior Director of Services & Support. With an impressive background in technology services and a wealth of leadership experience with companies such as IBM and PwC, Angela is focused on building a client centric team to deliver high impact professional services and support for all our clients throughout their journey and partnership with MRI.

Also joining us is Greg Clancy as the new Senior Director of Product Management for APAC.  Greg joins us with an extensive background in global product leadership focused on delivering innovative and customer-centric software products. Greg will be instrumental in delivering market-leading proptech products for real estate and strata businesses within the APAC region and enabling global expansion of these exceptional products.

Angela and Greg round out the APAC leadership team led by David Bowie which also includes Fiona Tipping (Marketing Director), Stephen Wilson (Sales Director of MRI Living), Richard Exley (Sales Director of MRI @Work) Paul Wahltuch (Director of Product Development) and Dean Carpenter (Talent Management and Operations).

Ascending to new heights

To continue to strengthen the ties with both our Living and @Work clients we are once again hosting MRI Ascend on 19 May 2021.

This free virtual event will bring together over 1000 real estate and strata professionals from every corner of the Asia-Pacific and covers product roadmaps, client stories, industry trends and insights and so much more.
